Hi there, welcome. I understand this might be a bit confusing, but let's try to figure it out together. You're using an Asus Z790A Gaming Wifi II board with a Core7 14700KF processor and Kingston Renegade Fury RAM (2x16GB). Your PSU was faulty, which you replaced with the ASUS RoG STRIX 850W. You started with your old graphics card, an Asus GTX 1060, but now it's not displaying anything. After updating the BIOS and resetting the CMOS, the issue persists. The red CPU indicator lights up and then turns off, followed by the DRAM, VGA, and boot lights. No beeps at all during startup. All fans are running, and the liquid cooler is working. You checked the CPU visually and found no damage, but it still doesn't power on properly.
You're considering replacing the motherboard, but I'm curious—what's the typical lifespan of this setup? Have you tried any other RAM modules or components? Also, could the riser cable be the issue? Let me know how you'd like to proceed!
You've considered restarting with the GPU connected straight to the motherboard. That seems like a sensible approach.
Unfortunately, the Hyte Y60 doesn't support mounting the card in its standard orientation. To verify this, I would need to disassemble the whole unit and test it outside the protective case. If no alternative solutions are available, I'll proceed with the attempt.
Remove the riser cable, connect the GPU, secure it firmly with your hand or a sturdy object like a Lego piece, and adjust its position using a leveling tool. Attempt to power it on. It should at least allow a brief horizontal slot for the GPU. This process is potentially dangerous and challenging, or the case may prevent it entirely? Remove the motherboard from the PC case and proceed with troubleshooting inside the motherboard enclosure.
I also handled that. I took off the riser cable from its mounting point on the case and connected it straight to the graphics card just in case it wasn’t fitting right. It didn’t work. Tomorrow I’ll carefully take out the motherboard from the case and install it directly.
