Hello everyone, I'm considering switching from a Ryzen 7 5800X to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Thanks for any advice!
I considered replacing the CPU with a Ryzen 7 5800x3D and would also purchase a superior cooler, aiming for a total cost around 200 euros. I noticed it offers significantly higher FPS, so is the extra 200 euros worth it? Would gaining 100-150 FPS in CS2 be valuable? Or should I switch to an AM5 platform, which might be much more costly? Thanks for any advice.
Anyone can dream.
About a 50 FPS boost if the GPU isn't limiting you.

It really depends on your target FPS.
I'm curious, what's your monitor resolution, refresh rate, and current FPS?
Fps in CS2 typically ranges from 150 to 350, with an average around 200-220 fps. Your monitor at 240Hz may drop below that. If the Ryzen 7 5800X3D isn't sufficient, should you upgrade to an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU with DDR5, retain the GPU, or replace both components?
Switching to a new CPU and GPU would provide the greatest performance improvement, without forcing another upgrade, compared to just changing one component.
To determine which offers more room, run a simple test.
Select 2-4 games at medium/high settings (or your usual settings), and check the FPS you’re achieving.
Then lower the in-game graphics to low/min and observe if your FPS improves.
You might also try reducing resolution (e.g., from 1080p to 720p) to see if performance gains occur.
The goal is to reduce the GPU load, so you can assess whether the system has available headroom.
If FPS increases by more than about 10 FPS, your CPU has space and a better GPU can deliver higher FPS.
However, if FPS stays the same (about ±5 FPS), the GPU is limited by the CPU, and a better GPU won’t help much.
CS2 can benefit from a more powerful CPU, but the average FPS won’t rise significantly. The improvements will be seen in the lower frame rates and overall gameplay smoothness. The 3070Ti remains a solid choice for this title, and VRAM usage isn’t a concern. The 5800x3d setting can boost performance from around 200 to about 270 FPS during CPU-intensive moments, particularly at 1080p resolution.
