Hello everyone. Experiencing problems with a recently assembled computer system for playing games.
I recently constructed a personal computer designed for contemporary video games. Initially, the initial days were remarkably successful – frame rates exceeded my expectations significantly, with titles such as Counterstrike and GTA consistently running at over 60 frames per second. However, upon attempting to play GTA today, the game failed to initiate properly. Subsequently, I managed to connect to Counterstrike, only to discover a drastically reduced frame rate – between 10 and 15 FPS – accompanied by persistent lag, rendering it unplayable. To troubleshoot, I performed a complete system reset and reinstalled Windows, hoping to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, just now I am attempting to redownload my games and the computer is refusing to remain operational; it frequently shuts down and exhibits extreme lag when performing even basic tasks, like browsing the internet or opening files. Below is a list of my computer’s specifications: Nvidia GTX 1650, Ryzen 1200 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB storage drive. I am seeking assistance in identifying a solution to this problem; my goal is to restore the enjoyable gaming experience I previously experienced.
Please don't indicate the wattage of your power supply, so I’ll begin with that as someone will likely inquire about it. Furthermore, could you describe the ventilation situation in your setup?
Certainly, my apologies. It’s a 500W EVGA with an 80+ Bronze certification.
Could you clarify what you mean by "the computer isn't staying active"? Are you experiencing sudden shutdowns to the desktop, or are you seeing frequent power-offs followed by automatic restarts? Let's examine the event log to investigate this further. Type "event viewer" into the search box, then click on “administrative events” and carefully review the logs from the period when the system failed.
