Heat issue with the processor.
Hello, I’m facing a serious issue with my CPU overheating (even after applying fresh thermal paste) and my PC shutting down automatically. When I power on, the temperature jumps from 65°C to 89°C in just seconds. I’m really confused and need urgent assistance. My system has these prebuilt specs: Intel i5-7400k GTX 1060, 3GB RAM, 8GB DDR4, ASUS Prime B250M-A. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
If it's the Intel stock cooler, reinstalling can be challenging and there seems to be some mounting pressure issues. The OEM Intel heat sink includes clips and a center punch pin. Be sure the clip is properly positioned before attempting to push the center pin out—I think I'm explaining this in a clumsy way, but if anyone has a clearer method, let me know!
Intel stock coolers perform poorly. You could try placing the PC on its side and applying some pressure to the cooler to check if temperatures remain high.
Completed the request as instructed. I noticed it wasn’t fully seated initially, but after repositioning now it’s definitely in place. I’m about to turn it on to check if the temperature increases as expected.
Oh wow, I’m the most clumsy person ever. When I first put it back in, one pin was definitely off. Now that I’m turning it on, it’s really impressive—about 30 degrees. Thanks to everyone for your support as I ended up looking silly!
