hadn't powered up my pc in just over a week. then I turned it on and connected the printer via the front USB port. As soon as the USB connected, I felt a loud pop and detected electrical smoke. Right away I shut down the pc, cut power to the supply, unplugged everything, and left it to rest overnight.
The next day it didn’t boot at all. The CPU light on the motherboard was illuminated red. All fans started spinning up, graphics card lights activated, and RGB illumination turned on.
I attempted to use a different CPU and re-seated the RAM. I have backups: spare motherboard, CPU, RAM, and graphics card. I prefer not to swap components just in case something breaks.
