Headset
Headset
I am trying to use an older headset that just has the single round connector. I think it's called an audio jack. The headset has a mic on it too. The headset works, I tested it on another system. When I plug into my gaming computer nothing happens. I tried plugging it into the line out to see if I could hear sound. I also used the splitter cable and put one into the mic and one into the line out. I've also tried every combination of ports on my PC (read, C/SUB, Mic, Line Out, Line In) it doesn't matter. Nothing ever happens so I don't know if Windows isn't seeing it, or something isn't configured right.
This is the only picture I found of it online:

That makes it look like it's a Microsoft headset so if that's true, I think it should work pretty easy.
TS, TRS, TRRS.

Initial idea is a mismatch in audio connections for Tip, Ring, Sleeve.
Verify plugs, adapters, ports.
After connecting it with the splitter cable, did you launch the Sound app (available in Control Panel for more details) to verify the headphones were connected and marked as the Default device? Or is the app still indicating they are Unplugged? Could you inspect the front of the case for any ports?
Thank God, it's now working. Thanks.
I had to use the included adapter that split it into two plugs. Before, it wasn't functioning properly. After locating the sound app in the control panel, I could identify each connector on the sound card and plug them one by one until they appeared connected with a green checkmark.
It reminded me not to remove or plug in these connectors while power is on, which was the only way I could resolve the issue since the sound card has many connectors.
Even for this affordable setup, both the sound and microphone sounded great, allowing me to record videos now.
Interesting fact: the headset output didn't use the same connector as my other speakers did. For some reason, I couldn't hear sound through the headset when plugged into that port, though the Amazon speakers worked fine there and the connectors looked identical.
On my laptop, the headset functioned without the adapter. With only one audio jack, it handled both the microphone and speakers well. I suspect this is because of what was mentioned in the first post. The black rings on the single connector seemed different from those on the adapter.
Anyway, I'm finally able to finish my videos. Thanks.
