Headphones malfunction when muted
After water spilled on the cable of my Logitech headphones, the microphone experienced some problems. A short while after turning it up to mute or pressing the mute button, static would start playing. Unmuting didn’t help, and the mic stopped capturing sound altogether (it only played loud static). To restore functionality, I had to unplug and plug the headset back in, where it worked properly again.
My initial fix was replacing the headset, but that didn’t solve the problem. Switching USB ports also didn’t help, even when moving from the front to the back ones on my PC.
The Logitech G635 headset is what I’m using now.
Any advice on why this happens would be helpful.
