He arrived home recently and Ethernet isn’t functioning now—just an unknown network. The cable is connected to the wall port that previously worked (refer to photos attached).

Open cmd as administrator, execute ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew. If issues persist, download the newest driver from another machine, transfer it to a USB drive, and install it on the target device. Verify all basic configurations are complete—such as restarting the router or confirming other devices have internet access at home.

The Swedish language is a bit slippery, but it seems the NIC isn’t getting an IP address. Try these steps: use a different cable, change the router port with ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew.

Another cable I’m not sure is needed for the port on the router. Since he uses the Ethernet jack in the wall, it’s hard to know what to do. Restarting the PC or router seems to be a recurring issue. You might want to check drivers on a thumb stick without having another one handy, and try using the IP settings instead.

Is it a structure? You can follow the path of the wall connector to its destination inside the router. Yes, you should be able to reach the router directly.

You can transfer the installer from an Android device to your computer using a USB cable. Also, you haven’t mentioned the outcome of the IP configuration / release and renewal. You mentioned he connects via a wall jack—does that belong to him personally, or is it provided by his workplace or school?

It's a flat and he has access to the router but not the wiring to the jack. He couldn't complete the release process and the renewal prompt only showed Windows IP Configuration. The Wi-Fi is his own, and he is responsible for the cost.

Start using the system administrator tool, move the device to a different port in another app, and test it. This helps figure out if the issue lies with the computer itself or the walljack/wiring.
