I believed it meant "without taking a single joke." That would have been more impressive.

The Abyss Watchers are merely a reworked version of Artorias. They move slowly and are easily parried, offering little challenge unless paired with a rogue. Consistency is an issue; unlike previous titles, there wasn’t the same variety in choices at any moment. This lack of diversity diminishes the value of PVE replayability, which is crucial for keeping players engaged.

When discussing PVP, it’s clear this isn’t much better—poor design and mechanics make it feel like a waste of time. A more responsive AI would be welcome, along with quicker, bolder attacks and weapon arts. The return of mana bar mechanics from Demon's Souls is impressive, but overall DS3 falls short in several key areas.

Poise and stamina management are problematic; frames remain static, rolls drain stamina quickly, and the damage dealt feels less impactful. Invaders face overwhelming odds—there’s no real incentive to attack or even enter the fight after defeating an area boss. All enhancements in PVP have been significantly reduced, making quality weapons and luck-based items dominant.

Even the most appealing features like sorceries and miracles are underwhelming, while NG+ feels disappointing with no meaningful progression. Covenants are similarly lacking. Compared to earlier entries, DS3 represents a major step backward. It borrows heavily from Bloodborne and doesn’t learn from its predecessor.

This version is a disappointment, especially since many fans prefer returning to the earlier games. The series’ charm faded quickly, and this latest installment feels like a missed opportunity. The Soul of Cinder battle remains one of the strongest endgames, but overall the experience falls flat.
