HDD operating at full capacity
Yesterday evening I saw my HDD operating at full capacity even though I wasn’t using it. The operating system uses NVMe, and the drive is currently handling games and other random tasks. From the photo you can tell it’s the only one reaching maximum speed right now.
Identify which actions trigger its access. If it lags, it may be failing.
However, I'm not relying on the drive at all—it's fully operational as soon as I power on Windows. All applications are stored on the C drive, and major games such as Flight Sim are also located there. This is the first time I've observed it since I can hear the system processing quickly.
Open Task Manager and look for disk activity. If Steam or similar launchers are running at startup, they might be updating games or performing maintenance. Defragmentation could also be scheduled.
Verify your antivirus tools. Also, assess the hard drive condition using utilities such as Hard Disk Sentinel.
