Hello, I’m dealing with a serious issue that’s been slowing me down and causing frustration. My PC has been behaving oddly lately. Initially, the Windows search function stopped working—clicking it didn’t trigger any results. Then my Chrome browser wouldn’t open, and even though Defender was active, it failed to detect threats. I attempted to run the command prompt as an administrator, which caused a crash and forced a reboot. After that, I noticed screen artifacts appeared, but they would disappear after a restart only to reappear later. Suspiciously, my GPU seemed struggling, especially with fans not functioning properly, and artifacts persisted even after a reset. I tried using Avast for malware scanning, which found some threats, but its accuracy wasn’t clear. Eventually, I performed a clean installation, but the graphics card fans stopped working and artifacts continued. It felt like a frustrating cycle of problems. Could this have been caused by a virus or another issue that led to my GPU entering a failing state? Thank you for your help with this complex situation.

I believe your GPU just stopped working due to wear. From what I've seen, cheaper Gigabyte cards tend to fail, so it's usually better to use EVGA or ASUS models.

Findings typically indicate a malfunctioning graphics card. Audio logs from Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1060-6GB Windforce OC suggest distress.

It will probably be quite challenging to fix the GPU rather than purchasing a replacement. While I can handle repairs myself, doing so professionally would likely take about ten times longer. Plus, getting rid of old equipment isn’t always easy for me.

We aren't sure about the exact issue with the GPU, making it difficult to determine the problem or its cause. They might attempt a different setup just to avoid potential malware risks during the transfer.
