Having choppy gameplay issues
Having choppy gameplay issues
I get that, but it's still useful to demonstrate what your hardware can do.
It just makes it hard for me to see anything clearly.
I know this, and I won't have any issues.
I'll wait until tomorrow.
I actually watched all the videos on this page. You can spin the camera around in them, which makes it difficult to focus on anything.
The specifications are there, so please avoid moving the camera while standing still, walking, or driving.
Focus on those three points, especially when you're not moving.
No recording software functioned properly... The gameplay appears smooth even when it isn't. I adjusted your screenshot settings and recorded the gameplay using the same phone with a tripod this time. I performed all three tasks without moving the camera for a few seconds, but issues only appeared when the camera spun. Observe the delays in the middle—it's actual game lag!
I believe the problem occurs when my PC is idle for a while, then it enters sleep mode. When I try to play a game afterward, the issue resurfaces. After waking up, if I restart, it doesn't resolve. I checked the Windows power settings and set them to 'High Performance', but nothing changed. I'm unsure how to fix this...

I noticed the stuttering. Is your RTX active? Have you cleared background processes? Starting with the Windows settings? When did this problem begin? Did you install any driver updates recently? Have you used DDU to remove all existing drivers before installing new ones? What driver version are you currently running? Did you perform a Windows update recently? Are there any pending Windows updates?
Also, I just observed you're using a Nvidia GPU with a FreeSync monitor. That setting isn't compatible with your GPU, so you might want to cap your FPS using MSI Afterburner. Try setting it to 144 FPS first, before updating drivers (if you haven't already). If this resolves the issue, we can also tweak your graphics settings.
The delay isn't the main concern I was addressing; I mentioned it earlier when adjusting the screenshot options. To identify the real problem, focus on the surroundings while the character moves or drives. The surroundings—like trees and buildings—will display a trail, appearing as if they are multiple or several times the same object. This effect becomes more noticeable in the high-resolution mode, where the trail appears three times as large. In the screenshot configuration, there is also tearing, which isn't present in the ultra settings.
Short answer: No, GTA 5 doesn't support Ray Tracing.
Long answer: Ray tracing isn't an option that can be toggled on or off for all games. It's a feature that hasn't been included in the development of most titles. Currently, only a few games support it, such as 'Control,' which has a particularly good implementation. Glossy objects reflect light based on the character's position or camera angle in real time; if this feature is disabled, the visuals will appear significantly different.
I also reviewed background processes and removed any unnecessary components. However, I'm still unsure about the meaning behind 'those in the Windows settings.'
From my system specs, I recently upgraded in August. For the first couple of months there were no issues, but after that I experienced problems and had to enable VSync before playing. That was uncommon then, but it's becoming more common now.
I always keep my system updated, so I don't recall when this occurred.
I never removed any drivers unless I encountered blue screen errors. I usually rely on the Windows Control Panel, not the DDU.
I've installed all available driver updates and Windows versions. I tend to keep everything up to date, so the current version is the latest. The only update I haven't done is for the motherboard BIOS, which some users claim causes booting problems.
Nvidia updated recently, and all FreeSync monitors are now compatible with GSync. They've confirmed some FreeSync models work with GSync, while others remain unvalidated. Personally, I don't expect the full GSync experience, but basic functionality is sufficient for me.
I haven't made any changes to enable GSync, as it worked well without modifications.
Unfortunately there's no way to see this trail you speak of unless you record the video from your PC. Try pressing Alt+F9 while gaming to start and stop recording. That's ShadowPlay. You can set the quality of it(resolution and fps) in Nvidia GeForce Experience so I can see these trails a little better.
Tearing may be because your FreeSync isn't functioning correctly(or something related to it). I experience no tearing on my GSync monitor with GSync ON and VSync always OFF.
Go into Windows Settings. Go into Privacy. Scroll down to Background Apps. Uncheck every single one to OFF and set the very top setting called "Let apps run in the background" to OFF. You may already have these set like this.
I highly recommend using DDU to completely uninstall ALL your current drivers. Then just install ALL the latest drivers. Works like a charm.
If this is true, you shouldn't be seeing
any
tearing whatsoever. At least, I'm just talking about my experience with my GSync monitor and my hardware. Not sure how effective your monitor is with your hardware.
I don't see why not. I do know that I don't game without MSI Afterburner on my PC.
This is most likely because I game in 1440p so my settings are pretty much centered around 1440p resolution. Since you are in 1080p, I say use the AA you wish to use. But keep in mind, ANY AA higher than FXAA+MSAA x2 is going to hit your fps.
Going from MSAA x2 to x4 is around 3-4 fps. Using TXAA x2 is around another 3-4 fps. Using TXAA x4 is around another 5-6 fps. And finally, using MSAA x8 is around another 9-11 fps from MSAA x2. I'd try to find the one that is a balance for 1080p. In 1440p, FXAA+MSAA x2 is the perfect balance imo. Some people need that extra x4 bump but I prefer the fps.
Let me know about other visuals and I'll tell ya' how to balance em' out for 1080p. No reason to kill your fps with near ultra everything because there are a lot of individual settings that KILL fps and the difference between them visually is as subtle as can be. A perfect example is Reflection MSAA. Turning it OFF is going to give you a good 5-7 fps and I'm telling you right now, setting it to anything above OFF makes absolutely no visual difference that matters...
Right click on all 4 of these links and open them in 4 different tabs. Then click from tab to tab over and over and tell me you spot a difference.

Same with these...

And this is just Reflection MSAA. There's plenty more settings just like this one that should have absolutely no reason to be enabled.
I found the issue! My monitor's FreeSync isn't working correctly. I encountered that same problem again, even when the game was running. After turning off and then back on the monitor, the trails stopped appearing! Thanks for all your assistance!
