Hello everyone!
I’m just starting out with PC gaming and recently set up my first rig a few months back, finally getting an RX570 for gaming.
The issue began with Gears 5 when I played horde with a friend; there were stutters, brief freezes, and that strange noise that sounded like a loud blaring or a very loud buzzing that would come and go but stopped eventually.
Even after returning the gaming profiles for tuning in Radeon software to default settings, the stuttering persists.
My PC managed Gears 5 in custom settings with some highs and ultra textures without problems, but now it’s stuttering during Gears campaign and even Forza 4 is affected by the loud sound and freezing. I’ve checked the file integrity through Steam and moved Forza to an SSD, yet the issue continues.
Gears 5 remains on the HDD and still stutters or freezes in certain areas; I’ve lowered the graphics settings to medium.
Any suggestions on how to diagnose this? Could the game be damaging my card?
I was using Radeon software separately and didn’t notice any heating issues with my card, and it ran smoothly at 75fps during horde.
Why does my rig suddenly refuse those two games after a while, even though I could play them without trouble before? I played the rest of my Steam library fine without freezing or stuttering.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please let me know what happened and why it matters.
My specs: Intel i5 10400, Powercolor RX570, Gammaxx 400 Pro CPU cooler, MSI 460M Bazooka motherboard, 240GB WD Green SSD, 8 Gig HyperX Fury RAM, 1TB Seagate Barracuda, Silverstone Striders Essential 700W, Thermaltake Versa H17 case.

It's quite unusual that these issues began after a particular event. It seems horde mode shouldn't affect your PC at all, especially not cause such problems.

A few points to consider:
- Is the disturbing sound coming from your speakers or inside the case? Maybe the fan blades are hitting something?
- What is your RAM configuration (1x8GB or 2x4GB)?
- Have you checked the CPU temperature during gaming sessions?
- While gaming, did you monitor your GPU temperature?
- While gaming, have you tracked your GPU's core frequency (a stress test like FurMark would be more reliable for consistent results)?
I use GPUz to track GPU statistics. HWInfo64 is another solid option that keeps an eye on most system components. Choose what feels best for you...

- During gaming, have you looked at the GPU's core frequency?
- For monitoring GPU stats, I recommend using GPUz or HWInfo64. Both display real-time data, graphs, and logging features (save logs to a CSV file for analysis).
- If you want a quick fix, open AMD Adrenalin, go to the Performance tab, then Tuning tab, and adjust the Power Limit to +40%. This can help if the GPU is hitting its power limit (common with RX570 models).

I can verify the sound is within the game and not on my PC (thank goodness).
My RAM is 1 stick of 8GB 2666. I’m not sure what those numbers mean. I saw those two recommended specs in a CPUID HWmonitor and wonder if my 8GB is sufficient?
Yes. 46c is the highest I’ve seen in my CPUID HWmonitor.
Yes. 72c to 76c while playing Horde using Radeon software.
No. I don’t understand what that does, but I undervolted my RX570 with this video. Did it break the card? I gave back the tuning specs when the Horde issue occurred.
I’ll redo the test and try Gears and Forza again. Thanks! UPDATE: Gears still stutters heavily when I tried it.

Not a bad video overall (for what he discussed). My GPU runs at 1300MHz @ 1030mV stable. I believe the problem likely stems from a sudden change in behavior. It probably relates to the GPU driver. You might try uninstalling the GPU driver (DDU software is often used, particularly if you're not updating to a newer version). If you decide to update the driver, consider a clean install and see if performance improves.

I rolled back the update from 21.7.1 to 21.6.2 and everything looks fine. I started the campaign in Gears 5 where it ran smoothly until it got unstable, then stabilized with some fluctuations when things became intense. I’ll try Forza next. Hope it works out.
Update: The driver was indeed 21.7.1. Thanks for the advice and support, mate.
