Sure, adding a bit more would bring you up to 3100, which is much better. The 8400 isn't a huge jump for gaming versus the 9100f. If you really want to upgrade, consider selling your current setup and switch to a 3100 paired with a solid B450 board like the Pro 4.

With your 1151v2 board and €90, it's a solid choice for the 8400. If you think your i3 is holding you back, go for it!
