Have you tried some troubleshooting steps for the keyboard issues?
Have you tried some troubleshooting steps for the keyboard issues?
I'm not sure where to share this, so I'm posting here. We worked with a friend and their comps keyboard (wireless) suddenly stopped working, even though the wireless mouse is fine. We tried basic fixes like using a wired keyboard, changing USB ports, testing on another computer, reinstalling drivers, disabling filter keys, and nothing seems to work. I was hoping someone here could suggest some unconventional solutions before resorting to a full OS reinstall.
Yes, it seems the adjustment functions properly on another machine.
the keyboard functions on different devices. it was one of the initial checks to ensure the keyboard wasn't malfunctioning
when you mentioned the keyboard not working and no motherboard lights up either, including num lock and caps locks
I had to be honest and didn't test the lights, but I believe they were functioning properly. I won't have another chance to verify them until tomorrow. Since I'm at home now, I'll make sure to check them again. Also, I couldn't see the motherboard, so I can't inspect any lights there—only the keyboard.
Does the keyboard dongle appear as a Bluetooth device or is it recognized as a wired connection? Also, if the wireless mouse uses the same dongle, how does that affect detection?
uncertain if the system recognizes the dongle, but it works with every keyboard, both wired and wireless. There are separate dongles for mouse and keyboard. He plans to bring it over tomorrow night, so I'll have more access to test things like entering BIOS.
I finally got the computer working and it’s starting to accept input, though I can’t recreate the problem anymore. It seems to have resolved itself after checking multiple keyboards and adjusting power settings to prevent the USB from turning off. I wish I had known what caused it so I could avoid it again.
