Have you tried a different source of energy?
Hey everyone. I just updated my setup: Asus Maximus XI Hero (WiFi), Core i9-9900k with 2x16GB RAM, RTX 3080, one NVMe drive and two older HDDs, an RGB Liquid cooler 360mm, Corsair RM850x case fans (2018), Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Elite AX with Core i5-13600K, same RAM, NVMe drives, and the original HDDs. The PSU works fine when the RTX isn't connected, but it fails when it is. Could it be that the PSU isn't providing enough power?
Which card is this? Even with a card that 850W couldn't manage, I’d expect it to perform better. It seems like the problem might be elsewhere. What have you tried so far?
RTX 3080 isn't a fixed model, but this card can draw 350W and the CPU 125W, totaling 475W. The power supply should handle it easily unless there are multiple 12V rails on one unit, which could be problematic. I think it should still function properly, but testing the GPU elsewhere would help confirm. Edit: since it's the same GPU from the last build, it's probably not the issue, though a possible damage during transfer is possible. The motherboard might be the cause. Have you reset the CMOS and updated the BIOS?
