Hi everyone, I'm looking for a way to capture a snapshot in Windows VMs with software. My office needs many apps running for system and resource checks. Sometimes the computer crashes, making it hard to restart everything. I want to save the current state so when it crashes again I can quickly restore the last working setup without reopening the programs. Thanks!

The optimal approach is a batch script to launch your software in the desired sequence and halt execution. Alternatively, set up a shortcut for the program in the Windows Startup folder to ensure it begins automatically. The system should remain stable, and I’d inspect hardware issues if needed.

Consider deploying a virtual machine and executing these applications within it.

Thank you for the responses. Indeed, that's the direction I'm aiming to take.

For Windows 8, run Hyper-V. It maintains the session automatically upon restart or shutdown, and restarts smoothly when you begin using it again. You won’t notice it running unless you connect via remote desktop, which helps keep things tidy. Give it a try!
