Considering the shift to Guild Wars 2 feels like a natural move given its appeal as a top MMO right now. My brother enjoyed a bit of Guild Wars 1, and I managed a short stint with it, but the PvP focus made it less appealing for me. While I appreciate competitive PvP, I prefer PvE experiences, especially in the endgame. The previous MMOs I liked were Everquest 1 and 2; I didn’t enjoy World of Warcraft, and ESO felt poorly executed. As a long-time Everquest fan, I’m hoping for something similar but with a fresh twist. I’m curious about the game’s organized guild raids—those high-profile targets require careful planning. What aspects of Guild Wars 2 excite you? What elements do you find lacking? I usually play as a tank class because it fits well with team dynamics, making it easy to join groups. Now I’m thinking about trying a different role, like a ranged DPS character that uses magic. Which class would you suggest for Guild Wars 2?
Unfortunately, it doesn’t match the quality of GW1, but this is positive news at the moment. It’s definitely worth investing your money. Right now there isn’t another MMO offering better value. The main goal is collecting skins or grinding for slightly improved gear. Beyond that, the progression feels rewarding, the content is excellent, and the gameplay runs smoothly. It leans more toward casual play than a strict MMORPG, but it’s still a solid purchase. You’ll spend roughly 300–500 hours enjoying the experience. The core mechanics are solid, though some balance issues remain. If you buy it, explore all classes since none are the best overall, and pick one that suits your style. There are plenty of dungeons for story and farming, but don’t expect endless time commitment.
Not a raider? Still enjoys leveling up compared to other MMOs? Absolutely. Massive PvP fun? Yes. Decent gameplay? Definitely. Raiding experience? No. Would prefer more challenging options like WoW, Wild Star, or Tera. Guild Wars 2 offers a similar endgame feel to ESO but with better PvP and no monthly cost. It’s great for casual play, but it lacks the gear grind you get elsewhere.
