Have you noticed any misaligned pins?
My setup includes an MSI z170a Gaming M5, an i7 6700k processor, Corsair H100i, two 8GB DDR4 RAM modules from Corsair Vengeance LPX, and a RX 6650 XT with 8GB memory. Recently, my system froze during the first game session. After upgrading the GPU three weeks prior, I encountered issues but eventually stabilized it after replacing the RAM. Initially suspected a GPU problem, later tests confirmed the issue was RAM-related—re-seating them resolved booting. Despite clearing CMOS and disconnecting all peripherals, including the PSU, the machine still fails to start with two RAM sticks in slots #2 and #4. Error code "00-4C-55-0d-30" appears on the debug display. Some online discussions suggest bent pins as a cause, but I haven’t inspected my socket. Photos of my RAM pins and motherboard backside were shared; they seem normal. Could you advise further? Thank you. Update: attached videos for reference.
Did your CPU cooler suit Intel’s 6th generation models? Previously, these processors faced compatibility challenges with coolers due to their slim design, which could lead to bending and errors. Misaligned pins might cause memory issues too, as the CPU houses the memory controller—problems here can affect RAM performance. When you attempt to boot without any RAM installed, will it display a POST error indicating no RAM is present?
It is functioning properly for more than seven years. After taking apart the system, I've tested a different cooler and found no improvement. When attempting to start without RAM, it emits a beep and displays code E0.
I think there might be a motherboard problem, but I wasn’t sure. I’m trying to figure out the issue on my own. Since I haven’t tested the CPU on another board or swapped CPUs, I can’t be certain. I’ll get a budget board to check everything, and if it doesn’t work, I’ll upgrade my setup. Thanks!
