Match the RAM rates with what the CPU can handle and use them accordingly. From a performance standpoint, you might lose up to 2 frames per second in games. I currently have DDR3 at 1600Mhz, but it could be better to upgrade to faster options. Speed isn’t the biggest concern. Just remember, I’m not a tech expert.

The memory controller on the 2700X isn't reliable, making high speeds tough. I was lucky with my 2600, which handles up to 3466 smoothly—though it really depends on luck. Just stick to your setup at 2933MHz.

In typical games such as higher frequency RAM, but CAS latency also contributes to performance. For productivity, both aspects are important.

First and second generation reach their peak around 2999MHz, especially when all channels are filled; full speed isn't achievable. For memory performance, you don't require 5950x—memory controllers remain largely consistent at 5600x.

The IMC on Zen+ performs poorly and often struggles with memory capacity. Filling all four slots puts extra strain on it, so consider using just two sticks. You may need to increase DRAM and SoC voltages for stability, and possibly lower the RAM speed. However, if you aim for a 5950X, a 3200MHz clock is insufficient—ideally between 3600-4000MHz depending on FCLK performance. Otherwise, you're compromising performance, which isn't acceptable for a $750 chip. If you prefer to retain your current RAM and cut costs, opt for a 5800X. It uses a single CCD architecture, making faster than 3200MHz RAM less critical. Very few use cases require the 5950X, especially not gaming.
