Have you noticed a strange buzzing sound coming from your power supply unit?
I recently changed my system from a 6th Gen Intel to a 12th Gen. It was a major upgrade. I only replaced the motherboard RAM and CPU. Since then, I've been experiencing a strange buzzing or static sound. Whenever I put the PC in standby mode, I've noticed this noise. I traced it back to the power supply unit. I tried adjusting the cable connections, replacing it with another one, and even plugging it directly into the wall, but the issue continued. I also removed the PSU to see if the fan was the source, but it wasn't. The noise keeps happening every time I turn on the PC, regardless of the workload. After spending a lot on this rebuild, I'm worried about the PSU failing and damaging everything. It doesn't really bother me, but I need confirmation it's safe and won't cause more problems. Specs: Gigabyte Aorus Master Z690 Intel 12900K GTX 1080 Kingston DDR5 16GB 5600Mhz Corsair RM 1000x (GPU and PSU are from the previous build, purchased in late 2016).
Without the sound, I can only speculate, but maybe the rise in base power usage uncovered some extra coil whine not there before. If it's just that whine, you should be okay except for the bothersome noise.
I considered sharing a video, but realized the noise comes from faulty contact or other issues, so I didn’t pursue it. As long as it doesn’t impact anything, I should be okay.
