Have you experienced BSODs and crashes on your AM5 system?
CPU: 7600x
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 16GB (F5-5200J4040A16GX1-RS5K)
Bought additional RAM for testing: Kingston Fury Beast RGB 16GB 5600MT/s DDR5 CL36 (KF556C36BBEA-16)
Motherboard: MSI PRO A620M-E
Bios: 7E28v13
GPU: GeForce RTX 2070 Super
I recently upgraded my CPU, RAM, and motherboard. Since then, I've experienced frequent crashes and BSODs. Games won't run for more than five minutes before they crash completely. Memory errors appeared during these crashes. During startup, I see a red CPU light and a yellow DRAM light that disappears immediately, allowing the PC to boot.
I initially suspected faulty RAM, so I returned it via RMA. After replacing the RAM, the problem persisted. I then purchased another RAM module, but the issue continued.
I performed stress tests using Cinebench and found no issues. System memory was tested on Ada64, and hardware failure occurred within 1 to 2 minutes.
Could this indicate a fault in my CPU's memory controllers? I've already returned the RAM and am considering returning the motherboard. It would be embarrassing to send back the CPU if the new one doesn't function properly.
My question is: Is it possible that either the motherboard or the CPU is defective?
Is your RAM being overclocked using XMP settings as high as 5,200 or 5,600MT/s? If yes, turn off XMP in the BIOS and go back to the standard JEDEC speed (about 4,000MT/s), then check if stability improves. Numerous systems struggle to operate smoothly at maximum XMP without further adjustments.
Did you place the DIMMs into the recommended slots according to the motherboard manufacturer? Typically A2, B2 on a four-slot board. Are both DIMM sets listed on the Qualified Vendor List? Are you using 2 or 4 DIMMs? Do you have the most recent BIOS installed?
There are just two RAM slots on the motherboard and I've used both – same problem.
The G.Skill RAM isn't in QVL mode, but the Kingston RAM is – still no change.
I'm using one stick of RAM and have tried both slots.
My BIOS is the latest non-beta version.
