I've seen some folks charge for their modem and internet too. Do you think that's okay?

I lease it since I can swap it whenever a newer model appears on the market at no additional cost. I also enjoy a warranty as long as I rent it. When I purchase it, it’s only for one year.

Currently on the lease, but I’ll own it after changing my internet provider. It includes built-in routing and Wi-Fi, though we’re aware those features aren’t great—my router manages everything else.

I’m not sure about the cost, but it seems like a rental. I think extra charges are added for using it. I intend to purchase my own modem later to avoid that. Also, the web interface for router features such as port forwarding, DHCP, and wireless settings is poor—it’s slow and hard to navigate.

I have my own modem since paying to rent one would be foolish.

I purchased it myself. The agreement is just a monthly plan, no fixed contract.

However, my ISP gave me a modem at no cost. Sometimes options are limited. It seems AT&T might have been charging a rental fee for the device, and you can't switch to another modem since they're unreliable.

I can always find a fresh option whenever you need it.

I hope so, I was billed $150 for a poor Huawei modem that I can't modify since my ISP has a strange rule— they won't add my device to their list because they don't allow me to use my own modem.

Absolutely, yes and no. We don’t have to pay extra for the modem/router package from my ISP, but it needs to be disconnected once we stop using it—something that’s actually a positive change since it’s really bad quality.
