Hey guys, here is a plan I made to swap out my old PC for Adobe Photoshop. Gaming isn't needed at all. Any advice or tips from other people would be awesome! 🙂 When are you buying this? It could happen anytime before September 2025. The budget is around 2800 Swiss Francs (which is about 3350 US$). Shipping is free in Switzerland, but I won't mind if it's cheaper. What do you use your computer for most? Editing photos and Adobe Photoshop. Maybe some simple film editing later on, but that's not super important. Are you getting a monitor? No. Do you need to buy an operating system? No (it will run on Windows 11). Which website should I shop from? Digitec.ch. Where is this happening? In Zürich, Switzerland. What parts do you want? AMD Ryzen CPUs, MSI or Gigabyte motherboards, Corsair or Seasonic power supplies, Noctua coolers for the CPU. Turning it up to max speed: No. Multi-screen gaming: No. Your monitor size? 1920 by 1080 pixels or 1920 by 1200 pixels. Some extra notes: I'm really not sure about my graphics card yet. Air cooling on the CPU is better than water cooling. The RAM sticks are short so they fit under the CPU cooler. Most important of all, why am I upgrading? My current PC is 10 years old and still runs Windows 10. I need to switch to Windows 11 starting in October 2025. It also struggles a bit with big photo files. The Plan: Motherboard (Gigabyte X870E AORUS MASTER), CPU (AMD Ryzen 9 9950X), RAM (2x 32GB Kingston FURY Beast M2 SSDs, 2x Samsung 990 Pro 2000GB with heatsinks, and a 4GB WD Blue for backups), Graphics Card (Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Twin Edge), Power Supply (Seasonic Prime PX), CPU Cooler (Noctua NH-D15), Case (Chromax Fractal Define 7 Black). Thanks so much! Kind regards, Littlelupo
Everything fits nicely here. A 750-watt power supply handles the load perfectly without being too much. If you need extra headroom, an 850-watt one is enough.
Here are a few options you can look at. Check these deals from Digitec: the MSI MAG Z890 Tomahawk WIFI motherboard for 265.00 CHF, or the ASUS TUF GAMING Z890-PLUS WIFI for 263.00 CHF. You might also want to consider the Intel Core Ultra 9 285 processor at 556.00 CHF, or the be quiet Pure Rock PRO 3 CPU cooler which costs 50.90 CHF. For storage, you could buy two Samsung SSDs (990 Pro) for a total of 154.00 CHF each. The Seasonic Core GX-850-V2 power supply is also worth checking out at 129.00 CHF.
