Your current laptop runs Windows 10 Pro. When switching to a new device with Windows 11 Home S, you generally need to install the Microsoft App Store to download programs. It’s common to disable the security feature (S) temporarily if you want to install apps not available there. Yes, turning it off is a typical step, though some users prefer to disable it once and for all. The process usually involves adjusting settings during setup or after turning on the computer, depending on your system configuration. Most modern computers today are sold with Windows 10 Home S or Windows 11 Home S, though a small number still come with the regular versions.

If the system is set to Windows 11 Home S, changing it would likely require upgrading to Windows 11 Home only. Switching to Windows 11 Pro or even Windows 10 would generally involve additional costs.
