Have you encountered any compatibility problems?
Hi everyone, I’m using an older mini-ITX motherboard with a 2.4GHz Mini PCIe Wi-Fi card. I recently added three 5GHz Wi-Fi cards to boost performance, but the new ones aren’t showing up in Device Manager—not even as unknown devices. I’ve checked everything, updated the BIOS, and it’s still not reporting anything in the mini PCIe slot. The three 5GHz cards are fine on the laptops. Could this be a compatibility problem with MOBO, or am I missing something?
Maybe, though I thought it would function. I even took out the WiFi and used a SATA card inside an old ITX board to act as a NAS—it should have been a simple miniPCIe slot. Have you tried one of the cards you verified working on a laptop earlier?
Confirmed functionality. I installed a functional card from a laptop running Linux into the PC. No BIOS changes or device detection issues were found. Other mini PCIe cards also recognized properly, suggesting a compatibility problem. Hope the manufacturer verifies this and avoids further troubles for you.
It's unusual they don't typically include a whitelist for motherboards alone.
Absolutely, that's why I didn't expect any problems with the desktop. Posting it on MSI forums might help too.
