A few years ago I purchased a ready-made PC from Best Buy in Canada. It had a good GPU and CPU, but the rest were low-end parts. I bought a 3070 graphics card for a discount and planned to fit it into my system. The case was too small, so I upgraded to a better one. I noticed my power supply didn’t have the required connectors. I switched to an 850W modular PSU, but when I connected everything, the motherboard only had 2x4 pins and a non-standard 6-pin instead of the usual 24. I tried connecting the old PSU and GPU again, but nothing changed. I also tested using the original PSU and GPU without success. Could you tell me which motherboards use a 6-pin power connector and if it’s possible to fix them? I’m planning to get a new one soon but want to see if the old one can be salvaged.

Typically proprietary components like motherboards are used. Fujitsu and Dell are the most frequently encountered brands employing custom connectors. The only 6-pin I recall when discussing standard ATX power supplies is PCIE 6-pin. If that’s correct, it seems there’s a risk of damage—possibly a short circuit or at least some component affected—since I’m unsure about the exact pin configuration on the motherboard.

These motherboard connectors are exclusive and built specifically for the original power supply unit. Switching to another PSU could ruin the board entirely. There’s no way to repair it.

This board lacks a 24-pin connector, only featuring a 2x4 pin and a 6-pin interface.
