I purchased this PC from Taobao and noticed the fans aren't working well. When they spin fast, I think hot air is just circulating between the bottom fans and the GPU. What steps should I take to fix this? Here are my details: Ryzen R7 9700x, RTX 3080, DDR 5 at 6400MHz, 750W PSU.
If these are identical fans, you could install FanControl and link them together on the same curve. Assuming the correct orientation (bottom + side inlet, top + back exhaust), you'll get a small positive pressure, which is typically beneficial. The setup looks great overall.
They seem to be directing air toward the centerpiece or core, which makes everything work inefficiently. This imbalance likely causes the system to reuse stale air instead of fresh one.
I would handle this myself; begin by increasing exhaust flow beyond intake, as that tends to perform best. Lower RPMs on all fans, then run light benchmarks to see temperature rise. Adjust exhaust until it feels manageable in noise—this might take an hour or two but is worthwhile. In my experience, tweaking a single fan reduced CPU temps by 5-6°C while slightly lowering overall noise, and GPU temps remained stable.
Assuming the fan positions are standard, the "free" section refers to where the fan directs air downward. The white arrows represent what you're unsure about—whether it's hot or fresh air, but likely wasted or poor airflow. The colors indicate expected temperature changes. Do you think this makes sense? You seem to think the bottom fans might be restricting airflow to your GPU. I’m not sure much about their back-facing purpose, but I noticed they’re set to orange and red. The bottom one probably looks white or orange since it draws air from the exhausts. PS: Hope you don’t mind my paint choices!
I focused only on temperature, not dust buildup. Still, I agree with your point and suggest it to the OP.
Still, even without the dust argument I see no reason for rooting for negative pressure. Care to explain ?
Dust filters exist and cleaning a PC along with its environment is achievable. Based on my experience, more thorough cleaning tends to help the most. Edit: Confirmed, generally positive results are preferable according to what I've learned. Apologies for the confusion earlier. As always, I follow the advice given and it has worked well for me.
You might be asking why you're drawing air from the GPU that really needs it through that bottom vent. This setup is meant for intake, which has only a minor impact but still avoids any negative effects. I understand your point, but what does "more" refer to here? Usually you have two or three front fans and one exhaust, creating positive pressure by design. It doesn't really matter if the exhaust moves slightly faster. Of course, the fishtank layout in the PC is quite chaotic... I'm not saying it won't work, but the many air currents and chances of trapped air make me uncertain about its reliability.
