Have you considered securing funding for fiber?
In recent times, I along with many neighbors and local businesses have grown weary of the slow internet speeds—up to 1mb going up and down by 0.5mb. Fiber isn’t currently available, and there don’t appear to be any upcoming plans for it here. There’s a fiber cabinet nearby, but it’s just beyond our reach. Most people have switched to 4g, though this limits us to a maximum of 100gb/30mb up or unlimited speeds similar to regular broadband. Could anyone share their experience with community efforts or funding for fiber? Your input would be valuable, especially since 360p video has been a real challenge. Don’t worry about the exact location—this area is quite large, and I appreciated your advance notice. - Lex
In the US, municipal broadband refers to fiber-optic networks funded by public money. Often private investors and businesses contribute as well. Approval is handled at the local government level, where city councils or authorities decide. You should review the regulations in the UK, as the process there may differ. Perhaps you and other entrepreneurs can drive progress.
As Donut mentioned, we can reach out to local government offices for assistance. I’d reach out to other ISPs that serve those areas in different counties, checking if they can expand their presence. Gather a petition or commitment from as many individuals and businesses as possible who want quicker speeds, collect signatures, and submit them to your current ISP or the others you contact. Apologies for not understanding what you mean by "counties" earlier.
