Reach out to Amazon support and mention that a third-party seller is attempting to block your return on an item not as advertised. You’re doing this since multiple people are giving the same advice. Occams razer suggests this—many agreeing points usually indicate accuracy.
Check it out and if it doesn't work or isn't new, return it.
Return it to Amazon right away. Keep in mind the seller might limit your refund if you inspect the packaging. Also, was this item sold by Amazon? It’s best to purchase directly from Amazon whenever possible, and ensure buyer protection is available—like free returns—to maintain the original stickers intact.
@Mark Kaine Actually I didn't believe practice existed. Back then, while working at a small mom and pops computer store in the early 2000s, we had to inspect each CPU case and stamp it to confirm it came from us. This helped us track whether a product was bought through our system or not. Using their inventory software (QuickBooks) wasn't very trustworthy.
