I placed an order for two Ryzen 5 1600 AF CPUs from Amazon, which were marked as new. Upon receiving them today, I noticed white tape covering the original stickers and the box tab, making it seem like they were opened prematurely. I’ve attached photos for reference. What are your thoughts? I’ve purchased several other Ryzen CPUs before, and they always came with a clear, round sticker on the box tab. I paid $150 per unit, even though the listed price should have been lower, and I’m not interested in used items.
Based on the seller, they may inspect each package upon arrival and confirm details during their handling process. There seems to be a specific identifier linked to the retailer’s POS system for managing stock. Considering the recent issues with Amazon, it might be wise to proceed cautiously—consider filing a claim or reaching out to the reseller for clarification.
Make sure you open them up, check for the coolers, confirm everything is in place. The IHS says 1600, the OINOUT matches an A4 pinout. If the stock paste is on the CPU, it doesn’t really matter if it’s all there.
It counts whether it’s been part of a setup for a long time or years and pushed to its limits. I’m relying on whatever protection I could get as a brand-new CPU.
If the CPUs function and you ignore cost concerns, it’s unclear what bothers you.
I believe it’s best to reach out just to confirm. I’d prefer not to contact them until I’m certain. If I do open them, the reseller can claim I initiated the process and the package arrived intact and sealed.
