I'm just starting out with the more complex laptop software details. I need some guidance here. I prefer having a clear understanding of when not to begin making changes. In Device Manager I notice a higher than expected count of 'Human Interface Devices'. Is this typical? Is there a way to pinpoint exactly which devices are connected and which aren't? There are three marked as "HID Compliant" with a device, pen, or touch screen next to them, so I assume those are the touch pens and the actual hardware. There are two labeled "I2C HID Device" and five listed as "HID-compliant vendor-defined device". I just want to be sure everything is in order.
Thanks, HP ENVY x360 (AMD RYZEN 7).

The proverb suggests, if everything's working, don't interfere. If your laptop is operating smoothly, you might be better off managing it through Device Manager instead.

Thank you for the update. I considered it carefully. I was going through my old USB and Bluetooth items when I stumbled upon HID.

Is there a method to clearly distinguish them so you can see which components are connected and which aren't? From DevMgr, click on the HID device, go to Properties, then Details tab, and use the dropdown to view labels. Some may indicate the device type, but if not, retrieve the top Hardware ID. From there, pull out the vendor ID and device ID. For example, a label might show PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3EA0, where VEN is the vendor ID and DEV is the device number. Use sites like https://pcilookup.com or https://devicehunt.com to check the details.

I entered the device manager and selected one of the HID labels. I found seven distinct 'HID' entries. There are four additional ones and two links for I2C HID devices. It's becoming a bit confusing. If I just leave them untouched, could they affect my laptop?
