Hello,
I had a Word document accidentally deleted from the directory of some software I uninstalled. The file was stored on a C drive with an SSD disk. Later, I reinstalled that software.
I need recovery data software to be free or at most 30 dollars.
I already tried Disk Drill but it didn’t work. EaseUs is heavily advertised as being free for 30 days, but according to Reddit users, it doesn’t actually function and isn’t free.
Please help me!

What time it is, I'll check when you last removed this file.

Did you remove a document stored on an SSD? It vanished completely in mere moments.

As USAFRet mentioned, recuva is your top free choice. I haven't used it in a while; my PC isn't on it right now. I remember it sometimes gives weird names for files, so the ones you're searching for could have strange labels or random letters. This means you might need to open all the files it finds, especially since it's been a long time since I used it—things could look different now.

You're left with only what you can attempt.
It might be completely lost.

Yes, absolutely. SSDs operate differently from traditional spinning disks. On a spinning disk, deleting data only marks it as deleted, leaving the information intact until it's overwritten. With an SSD, the deletion triggers immediate cleanup—cells that once held the deleted file are erased and prepared for new data. This garbage collection occurs whenever the drive powers on, which is why regular backups are essential. Without them, you'd be at serious risk.

I put Recuva in place but it didn't locate anything I needed. I also tried searching for my files by their content, but again without success. However, it turned out that Recuva can still identify other files on the SSD drive even if they were deleted a few months ago. Thanks for your assistance!
