Hi, I'm facing some trouble with my computer. It's been acting up for a while now. I've tried checking for viruses, changed all the settings, reinstalled Windows several times, but nothing seems to fix the problem. For the first couple of weeks, everything ran smoothly—FPS stayed around 400-500 on my 1080p monitors. Then, over about a year or two, performance dropped sharply. My PC would crash unexpectedly during games, and FPS fell by 300-400 points (compared to average 400). Games like CS:GO, Fortnite, and Valorant also suffered. I was really frustrated and wanted a solution.
I thought about taking it in for repair, but I wasn't sure how to explain the issue since my benchmarks looked normal. About five months ago, I upgraded to a 1200W PSU, and since then my games no longer crash mid-game—probably because of power spikes. Also, my temperatures fluctuate a lot; they rarely get too high but can spike suddenly.
Recently, I noticed my performance got worse when multiple apps were open (Spotify, Discord, tabs). Even with 16GB RAM now (after sharing with my brother), games still lag or freeze. My specs are: RTX 3080, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, two 8GB DDR4 sticks, ASUS B550A motherboard, 1200W Corsair PSU, and I run Windows 10. I also did Cinebench and 3DMark tests, but even with more RAM, I still had issues.
I uploaded my benchmarks and GPU/CPU results, but nothing changed much. I'm open to trying a fresh Windows install, but I'm worried it might not help since my PC has always had these problems before. It felt like the only time it worked well was a couple of weeks after building it.
