On my Windows 10 system, the admin account is set up with UAC and Windows Defender disabled. The Tor Browser download from the official site works when I run it as an administrator, but I need to right-click and select 'run as administrator' to launch it or open a shortcut. The installation directory C:\Program Files also prompts me to continue as admin, which only happens when Tor is installed there. If I place it elsewhere, no prompt appears. This behavior doesn’t happen with other programs either. I’ve noticed this consistently across my previous Windows 10 installs—Tor always launches without needing elevated rights. It’s puzzling since UAC and Defender are off, yet the OS still asks for admin access. Is this a known issue or a software quirk? Can I disable these prompts permanently? Also, is this a problem with the forum tool I used to post? The image you mentioned appears in the uploaded picture but isn’t mine—I didn’t upload it and haven’t seen it before.

I addressed the problem by adjusting Firefox.exe compatibility in the Program Files folder to run with administrator privileges. I’m curious why this is occurring only now (after my latest clean setup) when using just this program and specifically within the Program Files directory. Microsoft support suggested Tor is linked to black markets and flagged it as a security risk, though they might have made assumptions without full context. It seems odd that they would restrict such actions after disabling Windows security. This makes me think I should always use the admin account after a clean installation going forward.

Regarding PF folder permissions, configure full access, set ownership, and you'll be able to install applications that require their own directories for data storage.

I switched the ownership of Program Files from TrustedInstaller to my admin account, but the problem continued. Additionally, applying permissions for Program Files works fine except for the Tor Browser directory.

Attempt to modify tor individually. Consider changing it during installation.

It was confirmed that all features were active for the admin group except special permissions. I attempted to restrict certain actions in the Tor folder and then re-enabled them, but the program still requires admin privileges to start.

It's not unusual. Include additional permissions, and the system will handle them appropriately.
