Have questions about CPU temperatures?
Hello, about a month ago my CPU started behaving oddly. In every game or test it reached its maximum temperature of 44°C, even during multicore tests. The only changes I made were installing the new thermal paste (Arctic MX-4) and adding a new cooler to the back of my case. Prior to that, it exceeded 60°C. My CPU model is AMD FX-8300.

If performance remains poor even at low temperatures, it could indicate a deeper issue. Consider using a laser thermostat to verify the temperature. The Fx8300 series previously functioned similarly to hot plates, providing subnormal performance while maintaining high temperatures.
Your results stayed steady despite cooler conditions. It might actually be your performance that's weaker, not the temperature. Regardless, there isn’t enough information to assist you effectively, since lower temperatures could be a sign but aren’t the main issue.
FX can withstand up to 70°C, meaning 60°C feels fairly hot. 50°C was regarded as too high.
