Have issues with your HP Proliant DL380p G8 server? Let me know what you need help with!
Hi everyone, I’m looking for some assistance with setting up my HP Proliant DL380p G8 server. I need to connect a Netapp DS2246 24 Bay 2.5" SAS expansion disk shelf that supports 24x900GB drives using a Netapp X2065A-R6 4-Port SAS QSFP 6Gbps HBA. I’m trying to use Windows Server 2019 or Windows 10, but I’m having trouble finding the drivers for this card. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Based on what I’ve learned, there aren’t any "drivers" since Netapp runs its own operating system, likely a Linux-based one. This seems to be the more detailed thread I found for similar hardware. Feel free to keep exploring—it should help you get started.
Consider an LSI-based HBA solution. My experience with NetApp shelves is limited, but I recall they previously structured their drives in 520-byte sectors rather than the standard 512. You can convert the drives to 512-byte sectors, though it requires a lengthy process as you essentially erase the entire disk. https://forum.level1techs.com/t/how-to-r...lly/133021 I purchased several used NetApp 600 GB 10k RPM 2.5" SAS HDDs for my lab because they were very affordable. All of them needed reformatting.
