I attempted to uninstall DeepCool Gamaxx 400 white on an AM4 board. I used a Ryzen 5 5600X and followed the steps in the guide, but couldn't remove it. When I tried to power it up, both the fans spun and the CPU fan whirred, yet there was no shutdown screen. I'm wondering if I damaged the pins on my Ryzen 5 5600X. I also have an ASRock B550 Pro white cooler.
I'm having trouble taking off the screws to inspect the CPU pins. My screwdriver doesn't fit the bracket because it's too large, and the heatsink is blocking the way. Are you sure you're not dealing with a problem?
You usually have to twist the motion to release the thermal paste, especially when it's still hot. I once took a CPU out of its place without following the right steps, but nothing got damaged. If the socket is too tight, it might break the pins. It could also mean you slightly shifted the CPU and it needs to be repositioned. If some pins are broken, you should be able to swap the CPU easily—turn the motherboard upside down and give it a gentle shake once removed.

This latch tends to be quite tricky to operate—part of the reason cooling systems using it aren't popular. Even AMD's stock cooler relies on screws in the backplate. When you lift the latch lever, you might need to adjust or reposition the latches to release them. Are these latches placed consistently across the unit?
It's feasible though improbable. My priority would be extracting the cooler, followed by checking the CPU's status once it's out of the socket.
I successfully booted up the PC and played games, everything seems stable. The only issue is losing my dual-channel privilege. It might be related to the CPU cooler—it could have come loose while I was trying to take it off. All RAM slots are working fine, but using single-channel mode should fix the problem once I get a good screwdriver.
