In Skyrim, choosing sides affects your alliances and interactions. Supporting one faction doesn’t automatically trigger attacks from others, but it changes how NPCs and events respond. For instance, joining Stormcloaks might make Solitude feel distant or restricted, similar to how other factions can limit movement or visibility.
If you align with one side, the other won’t attack you unless you’re completing a task for your chosen group, where you join a pre-written battle against NPCs from the rival faction. You’re free to visit any city, whether you join Stormcloaks or Imperials. Ordinary guards you encounter will treat you as normal unless you offend them in some way.
