A few weeks back I accidentally damaged my phone and had to buy a new one instead of fixing the screen. I used the Microsoft Authenticator app, but lost access to that. With the info I had, three of my emails worked, though the last one is a bit confusing. Whenever I click the number ending in '3586', it says something about the verification method not working and asks to try another or wait. It’s been happening for days. I do have a recovery email, but because I’m using two-factor authentication, I need to use the phone number. I’ve reached out to support, but they can’t help. I managed to use the number twice, but it kept showing a captcha and then the screen went white. The second time the page just didn’t load. Right now I’m stuck with my internet account for Things Epic, Apple, Roblox, YouTube, and Gmail, and I’m not sure what to do next. Any advice would be appreciated.

Consider using a dock if your phone remains functional. For slightly newer models, attach a dongle and connect a USB mouse or display to control it.

This situation is definitely challenging. Being locked out with 2FA on your old phone can be really frustrating. Here are some options you might consider: Check if you still have the recovery codes from when you first set up 2FA—they can bypass the authenticator. For Microsoft Authenticator, you could restore using a cloud backup if it was previously enabled and linked to your Microsoft account. If you don’t have backup codes, you’ll have to recover one by one through each service using the recovery process with your recovery email or ID. It’s a difficult process, but it’s often the only way forward. If the phone number verification isn’t working, it’s usually due to a temporary outage or carrier issue—try calling the bank or email provider directly and ask for manual ID verification to regain access. Without recovery codes or a backup, you’ll need to tackle each service individually at a time.
