Has your system experience any performance problems?
I just finished replacing my old HP Gaming Desktop and started building my own. The new components are performing really well. But as I used the machine more often, I realized I wanted to make some changes. Initially, I was nervous about overclocking because I wasn't sure anything would break or cause instability. The system can handle a high clock speed, but when I enabled XMP profiles for my RAM, it dropped from 3600mhz to around 3200 without starting properly. I’m aiming for up to 3800, but Windows keeps showing 2133. I’ve set my memory OC to Auto, which lets it reach 3200, but Windows still doesn’t support that speed. I think Windows 11 might need a special update or feature to unlock higher speeds. I’m hoping someone can help me figure this out.
Hey there
I just finished replacing my old HP Gaming Desktop and started building my own. The new components are performing really well. Try to figure out the issue if you're lucky and get DJR/CJR. If you hit 4500+ with bad timings, it's a problem; if it's 3800 with worse timings, it might be okay. Check your RAM die usage using the burner. You seem to have messed up the RAM selection, so don't worry. If you want to go for the 4500+ path, keep voltages low—around 1.65V max is ideal, but if cooling isn't enough, aim for about 1.5V.
I noticed why I mentioned "the cpu being oc" — it’s because in BIOS there’s an XMP setting for the CPU. Does that sound familiar? I assumed the base clock was around 3.70 MHz. I thought maybe it was being overclocked, since that’s what I expected. But honestly, this is my first custom build from a prebuilt system, so getting something different feels great. Clearing the CMOS brought it back to 3200, but it can’t reach 3600.
I attempted to verify your statement, but the system only displays 8 GB / 1 die.
It's tough to admit such bad decisions right after you started, my first rig cost me 100$ and 775 pcs on AliExpress. I could have built it locally for half the price with better parts, especially for the board. The choice of board now gives me a gigapro 45 U3L and gigapro 45 U in amazing FSBs. Honestly, the only issue is the RAM, otherwise everything looks solid. For me, it's just the whole build that’s the problem.
