Has your motherboard stopped working correctly?
I recently removed my motherboard to install a new cooler but the socket didn’t fit. After reinserting everything, my motherboard emitted three long beeps followed by two short ones. When I restarted my PC using slot 2, performance dropped significantly—slow browsing and poor Wi-Fi speeds. The error code remains consistent. I’ve checked online for memory issues and tried swapping RAM sticks, but nothing changed. Only after changing the slots did slot 1 stop working completely, while slot 2 still functioned. Since both RAM modules are installed, the problem persists. It seems there might be a hardware fault or a persistent motherboard issue that needs professional attention.
These HP prebuilt desktops usually use custom boards, which means most standard coolers won’t fit. Beyond that, it seems something might have occurred during the cooler installation—perhaps residual power stayed in the board, causing a short, or a component failed. If you forced anything into place, that could be the cause. The CPU might have come loose or the old cooler wasn’t secured correctly; improper mounting can trigger errors. Try power cycling the board and resetting the CMOS. Verify all connections and ensure the CPU is properly seated. If the issue persists, replacing the motherboard is a safer option. For proprietary parts, you won’t find compatible replacements off the shelf. You’d need to locate a used version that matches exactly.
