Hey everyone. I’m not very experienced with this stuff, and I’m still trying to figure it out. Sorry for the simple way I explained things. We have a two-story house, and we all share the same internet and home central system. Downstairs, two cables connect us: one for TV signal and one for internet. The TV cable goes straight to our decoder, and everything works perfectly. My internet cable connects into my switch, where I have my desktop, smart TV, home cinema receiver, and Wi-Fi point cables. We usually watch movies on the Google Play Movie app while sitting on the couch.

But sometimes the connection drops. My neighbor above doesn’t have any issues. On my PC, there’s an error saying “ethernet does not have a valid ip configuration.” The Wi-Fi says it’s connected but there’s no internet. This has happened several times. I found a troubleshooting guide that suggested unplugging the TV and desktop cables from the switch to see if Wi-Fi would work again. When I plugged them back in, it stopped working.

I followed the steps online, restarted my TV, and everything worked fine afterward. It’s really frustrating because it keeps happening. Can you help me understand what might be causing this and how to fix it? Thanks a lot!

Could there be several concerns here? The connection to the switch might link to a modem, router, or a combined modem/router device. Which model are you using? The Wi-Fi router's specific model?

A router from a Norwegian firm, known as Altibox, was mentioned. Searching online didn't turn up any results; it seems the current model isn't available through the company's offerings. The user's Wi-Fi name is Airties 4920.
