I just assembled the setup with an x5670 and an rx 580 for roughly $160, all sourced from China. The rx 580 was actually $60 and it performed perfectly. I’ve noticed my x5670 isn’t reaching higher than its base speed of 2.9GHz. I checked if turbo boost is turned on in the BIOS, and the motherboard appears to use a 5500 series chipset without branding. Any thoughts on why this happens? Thanks ahead!

What motherboard is it? Its... possible its a slightly less than legit and validated mobo, by that I mean whatever BIOS is on it, or the hardware they are using may not actually be what they say it is. Linus has done a few videos on such boards, so has gamers nexus, and while they do sometimes work totally fine, sometimes they do not. Beyond that though, I don't really know what to tell you. Make sure the BIOS is updated (if... you can get a bios for it?), and go from there.

It mentions the HB-X58 on the board, but the only details available are a downloaded BIOS file that’s already installed. In HWmonitor it shows 'intel: to be filled by OEM'. It cost about $20 and I got it since the VRM seemed okay. Probably not the ideal choice though.

Sure, I understand. You might want to search online for the board, as others may have shared details. However, I won’t be able to assist much if there are actual hardware problems or limitations.
