Try using the built-in Disk Management tool to delete or format your drive directly. If that doesn’t work, you can use third-party utilities like Disk Cleanup or chkdsk to repair or wipe the disk.

It seems there might be some confusion. You don't necessarily need to format the drive if you're reinstalling Windows, as the installer will handle that automatically. Opening Explorer and right-clicking the drive is just for formatting purposes, which isn't required in this scenario.

You cannot clear the main drive when Windows is running; it must be stopped first. To create a blank disk, switch to another live system such as Linux or format the drive using Windows installation media. For a secondary drive, you can use disk management after booting into Windows 10, though it won’t work if the drive is active and running.
