Hey there! I've been dealing with frequent sudden freezes after sitting idle, even since I bought this Alienware M18X R2 1.5 years ago. To give you the full picture, I got it using a Dell OEM 330 watt power supply that had several issues—around $100. I think there was water damage from some broken keyboard keys and spots on the screen. The service tag on the bottom changed too, indicating a different motherboard was used. The seller didn’t know much about computers and picked it up with mismatched RAM sticks, a missing HDD carrier, a 250GB spinning drive, an unofficial Windows 10 Pro version, missing screws everywhere, loose hinges, weak battery, but it still worked. I rebuilt it from the motherboard, swapped the screen, keyboard, HDD carrier, and added a ribbon cable, Wi-Fi card, 32GB DDR3 RAM (8GB x4), a 500GB SSD, a new fan cooler, fresh thermal paste, cleaned fans, a new battery, and even found some Alienware M18X screws on eBay. Then I upgraded to an A14 2019 chipset, installed Windows 10 Home via the sticker on the laptop, and overclocked the CPU to around 4.5 GHz. Despite these changes, the hard freeze after idle still happens. I leave it on all the time, only restarting when an update is needed. Sometimes it works perfectly—other times it freezes within hours of booting from the last issue or update. To shut it off, I have to hold the power button for 5 seconds. It runs very cool; fans never exceed 50% even during intense gaming. It never locks up when in use. I’m really puzzled about what’s causing this problem. I don’t see any error messages, but I haven’t checked performance tools or similar settings. I’m open to trying anything to fix it. Thanks to everyone!

No one mentioned? The laptop hasn't stopped working for days, right?
