Hey, I hope you got the right part to share. If not, just let me know where to move it. Today I played Half Life Alyx and noticed my CPU and GPU were using excessive power. My GPU was consistently around 70%, while my CPU stayed at only 40-50%. When I started the game, it reported low GPU memory, but my graphics card is a 2080 Ti—definitely not maxed out. Checking the MSI afterburners graphs showed about 9GB usage, which isn’t at full capacity. After closing unused programs to free up space, the message still appeared when launching the game. Am I missing something?

I experienced crashes and memory alerts right after launching it. Despite having a solid setup—16 GB RAM and 11 GB VRAM on a 1080 Ti—this happened. It wasn’t directly about the VRAM, but increasing the virtual memory resolved the issue. I needed to set it to 12 GB to prevent further problems.

Check the settings to ensure it adjusts based on available resources. It should manage usage efficiently.

Open Settings > System > Info > System info > Advanced settings. On the Advanced tab, click settings under Performance. Return to the Advanced tab and click the button for Virtual memory. Choose a custom size option and try different values. I set both initial and maximum sizes to 12288 MB, but it seems that works for me. It might not suit everyone, maybe more or less is better.
