Half Life 2 ending?

You just managed to beat Half-Life 2 for the first time—am I missing something? I didn’t play the original game, but I saw a scene from the very beginning where a character appeared in a vision as Gordon was about to die, mentioning time. The ending felt similar to the one in the Lost Ending.

Have you finished Episodes 1 and 2? Also, it's impossible to complete Half Life 2 since Gaben can't go beyond 2.

There are two more episodes left, and the third one—expected to resolve the big cliffhanger at the end of HL2E2, which was canceled for an odd reason—is still on the table.
