It looks like many hackers use MacBooks for their talks and presentations, but this might just be a common perception. MacBooks aren't necessarily more compatible with Linux distributions or hacking tools compared to other notebook brands. You can still flash the BIOS of a MacBook using Coreboot or similar methods, though it may require some technical skill. The idea that they run a simple macOS isn't accurate—many use more robust operating systems.

They likely use OS X, and it's Unix-based. Macbooks generally offer solid performance.
