There isn't a built-in program for encoding or converting video files, but you can use various software tools available online or on your computer.
Numerous applications utilize HandBrake. It incorporates Avisynth and X264.
Handbrake is incredibly impressive! Strongly suggest it. It handles removing the video noise from my 1080i clips perfectly, especially with the new bob feature. Gives my footage a natural 1080p feel.
I use Handbrake to shrink my Blu-Ray copies after they’re transferred to my PC. It saves storage with minimal quality drop. The Bob-deinterlacing feature works well too. For all my DVD rips I keep the settings enabled. It accurately identifies which files or scenes need deinterlacing. What are you aiming for? Sony Vegas Pro is a video editing suite, mainly for cutting and blending videos. If you’re not editing, it’s probably not the right tool. Also, if your program keeps crashing, something might be wrong. h.264 is the most common codec today, so it should handle it without issues. Contact support or look up your issue on Google. Try removing and reinstalling the app. Verify your system for other problems—possibly malware, a corrupted Windows install, or overclocking. If you just want to compress videos, Handbrake is an excellent choice.
I rely on Vegas for assembling clips since its interface feels more intuitive than Premiere Pro, though the issue with Sony Vegas is that it doesn’t support many codecs. Unless I switch to QuiqTimePlug.dll, performance drops significantly—so I’m searching for a tool that can convert videos.
